Meridian vs Manscaped: What’s The Best Pubic Hair Trimmer For Men?

In this Article

In this Article

Alex Goldberg

In this article, we’ll review two popular men’s pubic hair trimmers over a variety of different categories to help you decide which one is right for your below-the-waist region.

You’re not alone if you’re considering trimming it down.

According to a study conducted in the United States, just over half of the men polled — 50.5%, to be exact — reported regular pubic grooming.

For ages, grooming the hair down there has been a struggle and source of anxiety. Few men know where to start, much less what tools to use. Luckily, men’s grooming products have been evolving and improving for many years, and the stigma around male grooming has subsided. In fact, it’s not uncommon for men today to take an interest in keeping their pubic hair well-manicured. This has allowed stand-out grooming equipment to take centre stage.

And before you get out the old beard trimmer to start making modifications, remember that the same instrument you use to trim your lips and jaw should not be used to trim your genitals. Pretty self explanatory, right? Thus let’s look at what you should be using instead.

Given the sensitivity of that intimate area, particularly your testicles (balls, cajones, gonads, whatever you like to call them), a personal trimmer for pubes created specifically for shaving those bits can help avoid cuts, skin irritation, and provide a closer cut than other machines. God forbid you try to clean up that region only to have it backfire with self-inflicted wounds.

When it comes to essential criteria like battery life, the convenience of use, and getting the job done well, two brands have emerged as the market’s leading rivals for the best pubic hair trimmer: Meridian and Manscaped

In this article, we’ll compare the performance, cost, colors, and accessories of these two instruments. Each has a unique set of traits that make it popular among those who use it. Continue reading to better understand which men’s pubic hair trimmer is right for you!

But first: do you really need a pubic hair trimmer?

The quick answer: yes, you do. Keeping hair trimmed and clean is essential for the general health and wellness of the pubic area. Nobody wants odor-trapping, sweat-wicking, bacteria-carrying pubic hair to take on a life of its own. It’s better to keep it under control to avoid smelling like a walking jockstrap or, worse, becoming infected with infectious bacteria. In other words, keeping your pubic hair clipped would improve not just your sex life but also the lives of anyone around you.

Choosing a pubic hair trimmer over other tools for shaving might seem like an unimportant decision but actually, it can make a world difference. Remember the aforementioned bacteria? If the pubic area is nicked while clipping or shaving, bacteria have a wide-open door to enter the body. The last thing anyone wants is an overly embarrassing reason to book a doctor’s appointment, so keep that in mind.

Pubic hair trimmers, such as Meridian and Manscaped, protect the delicate skin around the pubic area from abrasions and reduce the risk of ingrown hairs. A life without ingrown hairs is a happier, healthier life, so using a trimmer specifically designed for your most sensitive areas is definitely ideal. You don’t want to bring a hacksaw to an ice sculpting competition, if you know what we mean.

What exactly should you look for in a pubic hair trimmer?

When it comes to male grooming, the tools you use are just as necessary as your technique. However, if you select the wrong devices or rush through the job, numerous hazards could await you at the other end of the process.

When it comes to great male grooming, you need to know what you’re buying, so we’ve outlined some of the most important factors to consider when purchasing a pubic hair trimmer.

  1. A strong motor

Your hair is probably softer and more malleable than the hair on your body. There’re many more razors available that will give you a smooth look and feel above the surface. It would help if you used a razor with a motor capable of cutting through thick hedges without burning out or causing discomfort to your body below the waist. Plus, with a powerful motor, you don’t have to press down firmly on your skin as you trim; the motor does the hard work for you.

  1. Blade quality

The blade is possibly the most important component of any trimmer. Sharp, hypoallergenic, stainless steel, rounded blade brands are the best for a clean, irritation-free shave.

  1. Rechargeable and cordless

If you’ve ever gotten halfway through a job only to hear the motor sputter or the batteries die, you understand how inconvenient semi-shaved balls can be. When fully charged, a solid trimmer should last long enough to remove ALL unwanted hair and never quit halfway through.

In addition, the ability to be plugged in during usage if necessary is essential for those days when you forget to charge.

  1. Adjustable guards

Every guy needs options. The best trimmers should have adjustable guards so you can take a little off the top or get super close to your skin. Whatever you’re in the mood for, big guy.

  1. Shock resistance

If the thought of putting an electrified device around water and then applying it to your genitals gives you pause, we understand. Your pubic trimmer should be made of sturdy materials like shock-resistant polycarbonate. It should also be safe for use in both dry wet conditions. That way, when you’re in a hurry, you can easily take it into the shower for a quick trim, assuming you’re pro enough to not need a mirror.

Meridian vs Manscaped: What’s the best ball hair trimmer?

Meridian and Manscaped’s top two pubic hair trimmers are The Trimmer and The Lawn Mower 4.0 respectively. Each has more than what it takes to do the job, but there are a few factors to consider when choosing the best one for your lifestyle.

Specifically you may want to consider how close of a trim you’ll need, how often you plan to travel with your device, general ergonomics, and a few additional features. Everyone knows that hair grows indefinitely, so when selecting a tool like this, longevity and durability are also critical factors. Here’s a rundown of each model’s specifications to help you quickly compare top of the line options from Meridian vs Manscaped.

Having compared the two side by side, it all boils down to personal needs in the end, but there is something to be said for the fine print. Let’s have a deep dive into the specs of each model.

Review of Meridian’s pubic trimmer for men

Source: Meridian

The Trimmer from Meridian appears to have the fundamentals that every pubic hair trimmer should have. Safe blades, easy charging, and water resistance are just a few examples. According to the initial description on the Meridian site, the tool is specially designed to avoid nicks and snags. Based on the reviews, this appears to be true, making The Trimmer an even better option.

The fine print also mentions a low vibration mode for added comfort and guides to help you get the perfect trim.

While your pubic trimmer doesn’t need to look good, the Meridian dazzles in this rather fancy sage and onyx colour, all in a smaller, easier-to-handle package that can help you reach those harder-to-reach places.

Meridian’s The Comfort Package includes The Trimmer, citrus-infused ball spray, a backup blade, and a pair of boxer briefs. The Ball Spray, made with witch hazel and various other rejuvenating ingredients, is intended to soothe irritation after shaving and prevent odor.

A replacement blade costs $20. The website says replacement blades should be purchased every 3-4 months, depending on usage. Most electric shavers do not require replacement blades every three months, so the question is whether you should buy a shaver that requires frequent replacement blades when there is an alternative that does not require as much upkeep.

The Trimmer is also equally functional in both wet and dry conditions. Shaving in the shower is a viable option; however, keep the plumbing in mind. This is an excellent feature for those who enjoy the ability to rinse off while trimming.

When purchasing The Trimmer, there are a few factors to consider. While it does include adjustable guards, there are only two options compared to The Lawn Mower’s four. It may not be a huge turnoff since many of us are not discerning when it comes to really getting the pubes length right. Furthermore, because The Trimmer lacks an integrated lighting system, trimming in dimly lit areas may be difficult.

And because The Trimmer lacks a travel lock, it’s susceptible to accidentally switching on in transit and risking draining the battery (been there :man-facepalming:, good luck overpaying for a replacement charger). Finally, The Trimmer has an RPM of 6,000, which is comparable to — albeit slightly slower than — Manscaped’s Lawn Mower.

Lastly, The Trimmer comes with a USB charging cable but no charging station. So if you don’t have a charging block, you may need to come up with smart solutions, plug it into your computer, maybe?

What we like most about Meridian’s The Trimmer:

    • The Trimmer has two color options
    • The Ball Spray helps with itching and easing irritation
    • Lightweight with non-slippery grip
    • No overheating
    • Rounded blade tip to protect your skin from pinches

What we don’t love about Meridian’s The Trimmer:

    • Doesn’t come with a charging station
    • Blades need replacement every three months

Review of Manscaped’s pubic hair trimmer for men

Source: Manscaped

Manscaped’s Lawn Mower 4.0 is the latest iteration, built upon thousands of men’s experience with three older versions. Previously, this model was more similar to Meridian’s Trimmer, but now features enhanced bells and whistles including a charging indication, a travel lock, and longer battery life.

Although slightly more expensive than Meridian’s trimmer, The Lawn Mower’s price point is reasonable given that it includes more components. This shaver is also slightly smaller in size to better cater to those especially-hard-to-reach areas. It should also be noted that this model is a bit quieter than the competition as well.

In our opinion, the wireless charging system is The Lawn Mower 4.0’s most impressive feature. Say goodbye to  ugly tangled cords, and charge your Lawn Mower by simply docking it. Using electromagnetic induction, this system recharges the battery without using any outlets at all. This is the pinnacle of futuristic design — Who knew there could be so much innovation in ball hair shaving?

The Lawn Mower 4.0 and Meridian’s The Trimmer are both completely waterproof. It is suitable for use in the shower, and any excess hair can be easily rinsed away from the blade. That said, Manscaped’s rust-resistant blades and its lack of a charging port makes it even safer to use in the water.

Manscaped also boasts a convenient travel lock feature, which prevents the Lawn Mower 4.0 from turning on by itself (and draining your battery) while in your bag. The travel lock is activated by three rapid clicks of the power button.

The Lawn Mower 4.0 comes with four adjustable guards and a handy LED light for those hard to see areas. The flatter guard is great for trimming your shaft and the flatter areas on your body. The rounder guard is ideal for your balls and sensitive areas. This guard gives the impression that you can trim your balls with your eyes closed (although we don’t recommend it!)

The Performance Package 4.0 comes with additional items like Crop Preserve (anti-chafing ball deodorant) and Crop Reviver (a ball toner and refresher). Bonus points for the funny product names!

What we like most about Manscaped’s The Lawn Mower 4.0:

    • Wireless charging
    • Better engineered blades
    • Quiet 7000 RPM motor
    • Better adjustable guards
    • Travel lock

What we don’t love about Manscaped’s The Lawn Mower 4.0:

    • Expensive compared to Meridian’s The Trimmer
    • Takes more time (5 hours) to fully charge

Customer Reviews: What are folks saying about Meridian vs Manscaped pubic hair trimmers?

Meridian trimmer reviews

Hundreds of satisfied customers are raving about this tool. The Trimmer has also received many industry accolades, ranging from its ease of use to its waterproof capabilities. For most reviewers, switching to Meridian from a regular electric shaver or disposable razors has a life-changing experience.

Customers do occasionally experience self-inflicted cuts from The Trimmer, but they are still happy to recommend it. It’s difficult to design a completely nick-free shaver, and even the safest tools have a learning curve, so we think this is completely understandable.

Manscaped lawn mower 4.0 reviews

The Lawn Mower 4.0 reviews emphasize how much they appreciate the wireless charging and LED light features. The smoothness and ease of use are also frequently praised. Overall, customers appear to appreciate The Lawn Mower 4.0’s extra features and sleek design. There appears to be very little to complain about when it comes to this pubic hair trimmer, with hundreds of pages of five-star reviews from satisfied customers.

One reviewer even noted that if Batman were to trim his pubes, this is the shaver he would use. We’re not sure about you, but that got our juices flowing!

It also seems that The Lawn Mower isn’t as prone to nicks and cuts as other shaving tools.

The Verdict: Which men’s pubic hair trimmer is the best for manscaping?

Manscaping is probably something you’ve done or considered doing, regardless of how much hair you have down there. Truly no part of the body is off limits these days.

There is no universal method of manscaping, and everyone has their own preferred method. If you’re unsure exactly what features you need in a ball trimmer or are still unsure which brand is best for you, here is some insight.

When looking at the features side by side, it becomes clear that both products are relatively equal. Manscaped’s The Lawn Mower does have a few more bells and whistles and slightly higher speed if you’re willing to cough up $10 more. That said, Meridian’s The Trimmer matches it in all the important categories that we care about. Both are waterproof, hold a 90-minute charge, and utilize rust-resistant ceramic blades. By this comparison, the only real question is whether or not you’d like to save $10 or not.

For me, I like Meridian’s trimmer slightly more because of its more minimal design and ergonomic handle. It works perfectly well for my needs and I have zero complaints so far. If you’re excited by Manscaped’s wireless charging, however, it’s not going to break the bank to pay $10 more. Personally, I like to keep it simple, but both Manscaped and Meridian offer the highest quality ball trimmers in the industry, and either will change your grooming game forever.

When considering The Lawn Mower 4.0, it comes down to price. If the extra bells and whistles appeal to you and a little extra cash seems worthwhile, this is the model to go with. There is no reason not to invest in self-care and health. The Lawn Mower is specifically designed for men who want the quickest and most precise trim. The price point encompasses everything it has to offer, and based on customer reviews, it appears to live up to the hype.

Meridian may be for you if you have an arsenal of other high-end grooming products. It all comes down to how seriously you take your grooming routine. For an economical choice, it boasts as many of the impressive features as The Lawn Mower at a lower price point. If needs are being met and the price is right, this model is a winner too.

With this in-depth review, making the choice between Meridian and Manscaped will be easier than ever. Weigh the options and then treat yourself to the self-care you deserve.
