Snow Whitening Toothbrush Review – How Does An LED Brush Compare With Sonicare, Quip, & Burst?

Has anyone else noticed that their teeth have become more susceptible to staining foods as they age? If I thought red wine stained my teeth in college, boy, was I underestimating its powers! As someone whose diet regularly consists of coffee, smoothies, and wine, I’ve been looking for teeth-whitening solutions that don’t cost me an arm and a leg.

Luckily, with so many people taking a greater interest in their teeth, there’s a growing range of whitening toothbrushes on the market that promise to enhance your smile and leave you with a natural, fresh glow – at a fraction of the cost.

We’re reviewing the Snow Whitening Toothbrush, which uses LED to whiten your teeth. With 2-in-1 whitening and brushing, you can get professional-grade teeth whitening (+ cleaning!) from the comfort of your own bathroom rather than sitting in a dental chair with those bulky shades or spending boatloads of money on various products.

So, let’s talk about how effective home teeth whitening is when using the Snow Whitening LED toothbrush, as well as whether its LED technology is really the next best thing when it comes to brightening your smile at home.

TLDR: Cutting to the chase

In a hurry? Here’s what we love about the Snow Whitening LED toothbrush:

  • It has a built-in timer that helps ensure you’re always brushing the recommended amount, with 30-second intervals for each of the four quadrants of your mouth
  • There are four cleaning modes to help customize your experience (clean, whiten, polish, sensitive)
  • Snow’s sonic technology makes for a deeper clean
  • The blue LED light provides high-quality, at-home whitening with the right products
  • It’s pairable with Snow’s Whitening Toothpaste for faster results
  • Pics don’t lie: lots of satisfied Snow customers provide photo evidence of their whiter teeth with use over time
  • It’s so much cheaper than professional in-office whitening!
  • For sensitive teeth: LED whitening makes your teeth less prone to post-whitening sensitivity

Trust me, we know that keeping your teeth white and stain-free isn’t easy, but the Snow Whitening toothbrush helps if you use it regularly and pair it with the right toothpaste.

There’s way more to discover about this brush, though, including how LED tooth whitening works and the benefits of Snow vs other whitening toothbrushes. Read on for the full review to learn everything you need to know about Snow.

Snow Whitening Toothbrush overview: Clean feel and whiter smile after every brush

The Snow Whitening toothbrush is made by Snow, an oral healthcare brand that offers a wide variety of products to help you take care of your teeth at home. Their catalog includes everything from classic, at-home whitening strips to tongue and lip care to entire whitening kits with LED mouthpieces

Snow’s LED electric toothbrush won the 2022 NEW BEAUTY Award and has been dubbed the “Apple of oral care” thanks to its technology-driven approach to creating brighter smiles and cleaner teeth.

With vibrating bristles that remove plaque build-up, you can expect a deeper clean every time you brush. Paired with an LED light and Try Snow’s whitening toothpaste, you can also kill two birds with one stone and lighten your teeth while doing your regular brush routine.

Snow Whitening Toothbrush: How does LED teeth whitening work?

To understand how LED teeth whitening works, we first have to understand the makeup of our teeth. The layer beneath your enamel (dentin) is naturally yellow and darkens as you age. When your teeth’s outer layer (enamel) starts to wear down, the dentin beneath becomes more visible.

The secret to Snow’s Whitening Toothbrush lies in its LED light. The integrated blue LED light penetrates the enamel to lift stains, reveal a brighter glow, and deliver maximum whitening power from day one.

Unlike traditional light sources, LEDs don’t require any warm-up period. However, they won’t brighten your teeth alone. Its job is to act as a catalyst for the chemical whitening process, which is where the right toothpaste comes into play.

How to get the whitest bright for your buck

The best teeth-whitening ingredients are hydrogen peroxide and carbamide peroxide. You can find these in most kinds of toothpaste, but they’ll usually be in a higher concentration in whitening toothpaste. For safety purposes, toothpaste and whitening products are recommended to contain no more than 0.1% hydrogen peroxide.

Snow sells their whitening toothpaste in two flavors: AM and PM. The AM flavor is minty and refreshing, while the PM formula is a gentler lavender-mint blend designed to induce relaxation. A three month supply is $40, or $34 as a subscription. You can also purchase 6 or 9 tubes at once for an even greater discount.

Keep in mind that you can still pair Snow’s whitening toothbrush with any regular, over-the-counter whitening toothpaste – as long as they contain whitening ingredients.

Does the Snow LED teeth whitening toothbrush really work?

Research reveals that LED teeth whitening can be effective, though the intensity of results varies. A clinical study found that in-office LED teeth whitening was highly effective, but follow-up treatments at home didn’t do much more.

More recently, a research study found that blue light greatly accelerated the whitening process when hydrogen peroxide was the primary ingredient. Interestingly, the researchers found that the blue light LED not only made whitening act faster but also enhanced the ability of the products to lift stains from teeth

Blue light also has an antibacterial effect, which can help lower the risk of enamel thinning and dentin visibility. When you have better dental hygiene, your enamel is protected against bacteria that leads to stains and enamel breakdown.

With bolstered protection, your teeth are not only stronger and healthier, but they’ll also look whiter.

Snow LED Toothbrush review: Is it really the future of brushing?

With technology constantly evolving, it’s gotten so much easier for us to bring powerful treatments into our own bathrooms. Where we once had to rely on white strips or going in-office to get whiter teeth, I think it’s safe to say that LED will become more popular as time goes on, and Snow is currently paving the way for high-quality, at-home teeth whitening.

“Whitening toothpaste” has been on the market for years, but now we see The Snow toothbrush as a solid option for anyone looking to polish, brighten, whiten, and clean – all at the same time! Using the right toothpaste will give you a powerful all-in-one toothbrush that delivers noticeable, consistent results.

Keep in mind that at-home teeth whitening results vary; those with severe yellowing or staining may find that a whitening toothbrush works best after they’ve had a professional treatment. Then, they can use a product like Snow to maintain their lighter color.

Features of Snow Whitening Toothbrush

Sonic Technology

Snow uses sonic technology to deliver a deeper clean, which is the vibrational speed of the bristles. Snow’s toothbrush can spin up to 30,000 times a minute, while a typical electric toothbrush rotates 2,500 to 7,500 times per minute (Quip’s sonic toothbrush is half that, at 15,000), and a regular toothbrush is… as many times as you brush back and forth manually… The difference is noticeable immediately, and your mouth will feel fresher and cleaner using a sonic toothbrush.

2-minute Timer

The built-in 2-minute timer has 30-second intervals for each quadrant of your mouth to make it easier to ensure you’re brushing to remove bacteria and plaque and preventing cavities thoroughly. The American Dental Association recommends everyone brushes for at least 2 minutes each time for optimal oral hygiene.

Long Battery Life

Snow is rechargeable, so you can enjoy it for up to 30 days without worrying about plugging it in. When you do need to recharge, simply attach the brush to its base and a power outlet. It’s small, portable, and easy to transport, even if you’re in between charges.

4 Cleaning Modes

There are four cleaning modes for the Snow Whitening toothbrush that make it easy to personalize your routine.

  1. Clean offers in-depth scrubbing
  2. Polish and whiten help you improve your smile’s appearance
  3. Sensitive mode is added for those who need a gentler motion or lower intensity when they brush. This is amazing for people with sensitive gums.

How much does the Snow LED Toothbrush cost?

The Snow LED toothbrush is $149, or $129 if you subscribe to their Confidence Club. Members of the club have an automatic subscription ($29.99/shipment) for the Snow Whitening Toothpaste and Booster Gel every 45 days.

Snow offers interest-free payment plans with Aferpay (four $37.25 payments), and delivery is free (for any orders over $99). You also have the option to upgrade your purchase with a package that includes two replacement heads and three packs of the brand’s whitening toothpaste for $211.80.

The verdict – Is Snow’s LED Toothbrush worth it?

The Snow LED toothbrush is a great sonic toothbrush that’s effective at cleaning and whitening – at the same time. The inclusion of blue LED light makes it a standout among other whitening sonic brushes, so we recommend it if getting a brighter smile is one of your primary reasons for buying a new toothbrush.

Regarding cleaning, its sonic vibrations per minute are good, though not as great as Sonicare’s whopping 62,000 vibrations per minute, which really helps with plaque removal.

In addition to the whitening, we love that the Snow LED Whitening toothbrush has four different settings and a commitment to cleanliness (while still being super aesthetic). Some brushes seem to trade one for the other, but the team at Snow has made sure they’ve prioritized oral hygiene over temporary cosmetic improvements.

At a higher price point than others, you’re getting what you pay for. Snow is one of the only toothbrushes on the market that includes blue light whitening while still offering the sonic abilities to fight off plaque and prevent gum disease. Not only does this save you time, but saves you money if you combine with whitening toothpaste.

Snow Whitening Toothbrush FAQs: What to know before getting started

There are four options for the Snow Whitening Toothbrush:

  • Polar Blue
  • Mediterranean Sky Blue
  • Sea Breeze Green
  • Coastal Sunset Pink

Hydrogen peroxide can make some people’s teeth more sensitive after being used for whitening, no matter how you slice it.

BUT, blue LEDs are great for activating hydrogen peroxide as a whitening agent and therefore require less hydrogen peroxide, resulting in less sensitivity than other whitening treatments. So, while safe to use, it can still cause slight tooth sensitivity, depending on the strength and makeup of the toothpaste or gel they’re combined with.

Snow’s battery is rechargeable and can last up to 30 days between charges.

You should change your Snow toothbrush head every three months. If you order one brush and one replacement head at the initial purchase, you’ll be set for half a year!

For faster results, Snow recommends purchasing the toothbrush in addition to refillable heads & whitening toothpaste for $211.
