Alloy is making menopause treatments more accessible with personalized telehealth services. With ongoing remote care from a team of board-certified doctors that specialize in menopause treatment, Alloy helps prevent complications and a diminished quality of life in individuals who are in this stage of life.

Alloy offers prescription treatments including estradiol hormone replacement therapy (HRT), which is also called menopausal hormone treatment (MHT). MHT has been proven effective at reducing menopause symptoms like mood changes, insomnia, fatigue, migraine, hot flashes, vaginal dryness, and vaginal itchiness. In addition, they offer a non-hormonal prescription treatment for hot flashes and night sweats, as well as a non-prescription supplement that helps support gut and immune health.

In this Alloy menopause review, we discuss the pros and cons of the company, as well as the benefits and potential side effects of each of their treatments. We also compare Alloy to other brands that offer online menopause treatments, so you can determine which one may work best for your needs.

What Is Alloy Menopause?

Alloy is a telemedicine platform that’s committed to providing accessible healthcare solutions to individuals experiencing menopause, or the phase that begins a year after an individual’s last period.

Menopause marks the point at which the ovaries stop producing estrogen and progesterone. It triggers a variety of symptoms that can be uncomfortable and, in some cases, impact your overall quality of life.

Alloy offers a variety of treatments that target menopause symptoms, including:

  • Hot flashes
  • Night sweats
  • Vaginal-related concerns, such as vaginal dryness and painful sex
  • Low libido, or sex drive
  • Bone fragility
  • Anxiety
  • Mood changes
  • Brain fog
  • Fatigue
  • Skin concerns, such as facial acne, dry skin, and wrinkles
  • Weight gain
  • Hair loss
  • Bladder issues, such as frequent urinary tract infections (UTIs) and painful urination
  • Irregular periods

Is Alloy a Prescription Treatment?

Most of Alloy’s treatments for menopause and perimenopause, or the time right before menopause, require a prescription. This includes both hormonal and non-hormonal treatments, such as:

  • Estradiol pill, a once-daily pill for fast relief from multiple menopause symptoms
  • Estradiol patch, a twice-weekly patch for people who don’t want to take a daily pill for multi-symptom relief
  • Estradiol vaginal cream, a prescription cream for vaginal menopause symptoms
  • Low-dose birth control pill for perimenopausal symptoms including hot flashes, night sweats, and irregular periods
  • M4 cream, an Alloy prescription estrogen-based face cream formulated to improve signs of estrogen deficiency in the skin, including dryness, lost elasticity, and wrinkles
  • Alloy O-mazing, a prescription vaginal cream designed to improve sexual arousal and satisfaction
  • Paroxetine, a non-hormonal pill that treats hot flashes and night sweats

They do also offer a non-prescription probiotic to support immune function, hormonal balance, weight management, and health digestion.

How Does Alloy Menopause Work?

To get started with Alloy, you’ll need to take a 3-minute online assessment. This quick questionnaire gathers general information about your symptoms, recent menstrual cycles, and other details about your medical history.

Upon completing the assessment, Alloy will present you with a recommended treatment plan, which comes with free delivery to your doorstep and unlimited messaging with a board-certified doctor. You can also purchase a virtual doctor consultation for $35 if you have additional questions before starting a plan.

Benefits of Alloy Estradiol

Alloy offers estradiol, a type of estrogen, for hormone replacement therapy in the form of a pill, patch, or cream to address menopause symptoms.

Estradiol is the most potent type of estrogen in individuals assigned female at birth during their reproductive years. It plays several important roles in the body, such as helping to manage menstrual cycles and supporting the neurologic, cardiovascular, skeletal, and vascular systems. During menopause, estrone takes over as the body’s primary form of estrogen.

Estradiol HRT has been found to significantly improve menopause-related symptoms, including hot flashes, vaginal dryness, vaginal itchiness, painful urination, and more. Additionally, estradiol has been found to lower stress levels by limiting the release of cortisol, or the body’s main stress hormone, when an individual experiences certain stressors. This may help individuals who are experiencing anxiety and high stress levels during menopause.

Alloy’s prescription estradiol HRT solutions are FDA-approved, bioidentical, and plant-based. Bioidentical hormones are identical in molecular structure to the hormones made in your body. The alternative, synthetic hormones, have a different molecular structure and are derived from human-made chemical compounds.

Benefits of Alloy’s Other Treatments

Alloy’s other treatments provide targeted benefits for specific menopause symptoms.

My Alloy M4 Cream

M4 is a plant-based, fragrance-free prescription estriol face cream. It contains topical estriol, glycerin, oleic acid, and vitamin E to rejuvenate, hydrate, protect, and soften skin. M4 is ideal for anyone looking to improve the look and feel of their skin after experiencing dryness, lost elasticity, and more pronounced wrinkles due to a decline in estrogen.

Alloy O-mazing Cream

O-mazing is a custom-blended prescription cream that combines three clinical ingredients to boost sexual satisfaction:

  • Sildenafil, the active ingredient in Viagra, is known to boost blood flow, increase natural lubrication, and enhance sensation.
  • Pentoxifylline is a medication that improves blood flow, which may contribute to arousal.
  • Ergoloid mesylate is a medication that’s used to treat age-related mood and behavioral conditions. However, it is also thought to increase blood flow and stimulate the neurotransmitters associated with sexual satisfaction.

Alloy Synbiotic

Alloy Synbiotic is a probiotic supplement containing MicrobiomeX™ and Livaux®. MicrobiomeX™ is a citrus fruit extract that’s formulated to positively alter the gut’s microbiome compensation. Livaux® is a natural supplement devised from non-GMO New Zealand gold kiwifruit that helps the gut’s beneficial bacteria thrive and recover. Together, these ingredients provide improved gut health, anti-inflammatory properties, and antioxidant benefits.

Safety and Side Effects of Alloy Menopause Treatments

Alloy estradiol HRT side effects may include:

  • Headaches
  • Nausea and vomiting
  • Constipation and gas
  • Weight changes
  • Heartburn
  • Mood changes
  • Changes in libido and/or sexual function
  • Changes in hair growth/hair loss
  • Breast tenderness
  • Joint pain

If you opt for an estradiol patch, skin irritation at the site of the patch is another possible side effect.

Alloy’s O-mazing cream is a prescription topical that doesn’t contain estradiol. However, it may cause skin itching, redness, or mild irritation. Refrain from applying the cream on irritated skin, open wounds, active herpes outbreaks, or if you’re experiencing an active infection

Is Alloy Menopause Safe?

Estradiol may increase the risk of breast cancer, endometrial cancer, stroke, heart attack, blood clots, and dementia. Be sure to let your healthcare provider know if you have a history of any of these conditions before starting HRT with any form of estrogen.

Individuals who have a uterus may be advised to take another medication called progestin, along with estradiol, to help reduce the risk of endometrial cancer. Generally, individuals at an increased risk of breast cancer or endometrial cancer aren’t advised to start estradiol therapy.

When to Seek Emergency Medical Care

Seek immediate medical care if you experience severe side effects or if side effects don’t go away. In addition, seek urgent medical care if you experience:

  • Fever
  • Yellowing skin or eyes
  • Hives, rashes, or blisters
  • Difficulty breathing or swallowing
  • Hoarseness
  • Tenderness, swelling, or pain in the stomach

Our Experience With Alloy Menopause

We found that signing up for Alloy was fast and simple, with a streamlined interface. After browsing the complete range of perimenopause and menopause solutions, we began the online assessment. It lasted only a few minutes, but gathered detailed information about our symptoms and medical history, making sure to ask about our interest in supplemental treatments, like O-mazing and Synbiotic.

After completing this assessment, Alloy tailored a treatment plan to our responses. The pricing and included benefits were clearly displayed, along with the option to schedule a doctor’s consultation. Especially when compared to scheduling and attending an in-person appointment for menopause symptoms, Alloy’s signup process was undeniably time-saving and convenient.

“I had some problems with the shipping schedule for my first refill of birth control pills from My Alloy. They arrived late. I reached out to them about it using their customer service email address- and the disagreement escalated to the point that I was on the verge of finding a different provider. But- when I really got upset- My Alloy jumped to attention and worked to make me feel like there were actual people on the other side of the customer service divide. I appreciate that.

In terms of the medicine they sent me- I did not really think of my perimenopausal symptoms as severe- so I did not expect to feel a whole lot better. But I do. I have always suffered from painful breasts and terrible sleep. (Side note: I have never seen a doctor’s eyes glaze over faster than if you say “my breasts hurt”. Doctors really do not think breast pain is any kind of legitimate symptom). Doctor after doctor told me to cut back on caffeine- and I told doctor after doctor that cutting back on caffeine did nothing. They offered no other solution. I eventually thought there was no solution. But within 3 months I am experiencing total relief from these two problems. After so many years it almost feels miraculous. So I am very grateful for that, and I am glad I tried something new.

My Alloy is a new company and they are still working out some kinks. But I will stick around for this great prescription, and to see how it all evolves. It’s nice to see power moving towards women to be able to solve these problems without having to be supplicants to a medical system that dismisses their symptoms.”
